OfficeTips on Decorating the Office for the Holidays
‘Tis the season for holiday decorating and your office is no exception. However, what is the best balance between too much sparkle and glitter and an office with just a few poinsettia plants scattered around the lobby? This time of year, almost everyone appreciates the season and enjoys cheerful surroundings.
On the other hand, in today's politically correct society, offices are best holiday dressed in nondenominational themes. There are simple ways to decorate your office without offending anyone yet bringing the seasonal spirit indoors for everyone to enjoy. One fun way to brighten the office is to bring nature indoors. Mini potted trees, such as fir and pine, not only make great accents they are aromatic and colorful. Try some holly and poinsettias on desks and in common areas. Group pine and holly with white flowers tied with a festive bow. These are traditional seasonal decorations without any specific religious connotations. Rather than using the traditional red and green most associated with Christmas, or the blue and white of Hanukkah, try silver and gold. These colors are attractive and tell your employees and visitors your office celebrates the season. Ribbons and bows are another great way to punch up your office decorating. Hang the decorative ribbons and bows on potted trees and plants. Keep it simple though. This is an easy and inexpensive way to brighten up your office. Everyone knows this time of year is hard on the waistline. A few baskets and bowls of sweets may elicit groans from the staff about gaining too much weight. Instead, fill the baskets and bowls with fresh fruits such as apples, pears and citrus. Not only are they healthy, they are decorative as well. You may want to use oranges studded with cloves for not only decoration but for their lovely fragrance too. Just smelling the orange and cloves will put everyone into a festive mood. After decorating, don't forget to have a holiday get-together for your staff. This is a great "thank you" for a job well done.
