OfficeMailboxes: Then and Now
During gradeschool, I would always tease my then college-level sister about her pen-pal living in the US. They exchange letters twice a month, sometimes with photos attached to the note. The last time I received a personal letter through postal mail was almost 10 years ago. It was from my grandma who's been living in Australia for more than half of her life. The letter was for my birthday which she painstakingly wrote. Ironically, my cousins that time greeted me through instant messaging and through my email. Today, the only letters post mailed for me are monthly electric, internet and water bills. Oh, I still sometimes get formal invitations through post mails, though these days most invitations to events are being given to me digitally. I am also able to retain a monthly subscription to my favorite magazine and our transactions are refreshingly done through postal mails. The age of personal postal mails is indeed fading, if not over. Actually, the word 'mail' is more associated to E-Mails nowadays than with postal mails, or snail mails as they call it for its slow delivery time. I personally think that post mails still exists solely because of legal and business-related mails. If these companies will be given the option to send their notifications and bills to their customers electronically and digitally, I''m pretty sure they'll happily do it. But since not everyone has e-mail accounts or are good in using a computer, a mail post is still the only way to do it for everyone. I wonder if there are still people out there writing love letters for each other and not seeking help from computers, all just for the fun of doing it. Sometimes it's fun entertaining those kind of idea, especially in this digital age we are living in. You can talk about...
