All of us want to be productive at the office. There are days, however, when you may spend more time trying to remember which project you need to do by when than it would take to do it. This is obviously not a productive use of time. So why does this happen?

 

Maybe you can solve this particular problem by writing a list of things you need to do at the first of each week. Add some check boxes and mark off each task as it is completed. Your busy life can be very overwhelming and you don't want to spend valuable time organizing things in your mind when you can quickly see it on a list or spreadsheet.

Sleeping, more specifically a decent nights sleep, can do wonders for your office mind. You may have been able to do all-nighters in college but times are different now. Don't try to stay up and finish a project that is probably better suited for the morning. Get plenty of rest and you will be surprised how productive you are the next day.

You may feel personally responsible for a project, but don't overburden yourself when help is just a desk away. When you find yourself buried, don't be too proud to ask an assistant or co-worker if they can lend a hand. Tap into your office resources and delegate.

Setting big goals is admirable. Be realistic, however, and try not to establish objectives that even superheroes would have a difficult time attaining. Recap the milestones that you want to accomplish. The medium and smaller goals will automatically fall into place when you focus on the larger picture.

Problems often manifest themselves as an opportunity. On the other hand, problems can also be frustrating and take up valuable time when you fixate on a single issue. When you reach an impasse in your mind, try to move on to something else. This will help clear the cobwebs and make solving the initial problem much easier.
